The formation of oxygen containing functional groups and their effects on GO structural properties were analyzed by UV\u2013visible spectrophotometry (UV\u2013vis), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), x-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectrophotometer. The presence of hydroxyl (-OH), carboxyl (-COOH), epoxy (C<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sdfestaticassets-eu-west-1.sciencedirectassets.com\/shared-assets\/16\/entities\/sbnd\" alt=\"\" \/>O<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sdfestaticassets-eu-west-1.sciencedirectassets.com\/shared-assets\/16\/entities\/sbnd\" alt=\"\" \/>C) and carbonyl (C<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sdfestaticassets-eu-west-1.sciencedirectassets.com\/shared-assets\/16\/entities\/dbnd\" alt=\"\" \/>O) groups in GO and their intermolecular interaction were analyzed by FTIR.
