Associate Professor Ir Dr Ahmad Athif received his B. Eng. and the M. Eng. degrees from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia and the Dr. Eng. in System Integration from Okayama University, Japan in 2004, 2006, and 2010 respectively. He is now attached in Department of Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia as a Senior Lecturer. He is mainly engaged in the research fields of pneumatic actuators, soft actuators, robotics automation and their applications. He is a member of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, Board of Engineers Malaysia and Institute of Engineers Malaysia.

Hazlina Selamat

Assoc Prof Ir Dr Hazlina Selamat is an Associate Professor and a Professional Engineer. She has been lecturing at the Electrical Engineering Faculty, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) since the year 2000. She obtained her PhD and MEng. in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2007 and 2000 respectively. Before that, she received a full scholarship from Malaysian Public Service Department (JPA) to do her A-Levels in Roedean School, Brighton, England (1993-1995) and her first degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London (1995-1998). Her principal areas of interest are adaptive control, online system identification and application of control to the high-order and nonlinear systems such as the high-speed railway vehicle suspension system.
She has been with the Centre for Artificial Intelligence & Robotics (CAIRO), since the year 2005. Currently, her active research projects include developing the optimization engine for an energy management system (UTM’s Flagship Grant), pre-commercialization of the retrofit fuel injection kit for carburetor engines, FuelGainKitTM (Lab2Market Grant), crowd modeling project (Research University Grant) and mentoring the IIUM project on the real-time detection of human affective state for human-robot interaction (RACE Grant).
She is also the Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) and the Member of the Control System Society of the Institution of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE).

Mohd Fauzi Othman

Associate Professor Dr Mohd Fauzi Othman is currently a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He obtained his Bachelor of Mathematic (B.Math) in Applied Math from University of Wollongong, Australia in 1990 and Master of Electrical Engineering in Electrical Power System from UTM in 1996. Dr Mohd Fauzi received his PhD in Control System from the University of Sheffield in 2004 with thesis title “A Hybrid Systems Approach to Control and Fault Detection and Accommodation in Power Systems”. Dr Mohd Fauzi is a co-author of a book chapter entitled “Fault Diagnosis in Power Distribution Network Using Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS)” of the book “Fuzzy Inference System – Theory and Applications” published by InTech. He is a member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Malaysia (IEEE) and Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM).

Yeong Che Fai

Dr Yeong Che Fai is currently a Senior Lecturer in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He graduated his PhD in Bioengineering in Imperial College London. He is well-associated with robotics in Malaysia as he has participated and won many robotics competition nationally and internationally such as ROBOCON, Robofest, Philips Young Inventor Challenge and Innovate Malaysia Design Competition. He provide consultancy and training services on embedded system and automation. His other research interests include micro-surgical training simulator, haptic devices, entertainment robots and autonomous mobile robot.

Eng. degrees from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia and the Dr. Eng. in Electrical Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, United Kingdom in 2004, 2006, and 2011 respectively.He is a member of The Institution of Engineers Malaysia,Board of Engineers Malaysia, IEEE, IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society and IEEE Control systems Society, Asian Control Association, and Society for Underwater Technology. His research interest is perceptual robots, adaptive robust control, unmanned vehicle and redundant robots.

Kumeresan A. Danapalasingam

Dr. Kumeresan was born in Kuala Lumpur in 1981. He obtained his primary and secondary educations in Gombak, Selangor. After earning his degree in Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical – Mechatronics), he was appointed as a tutor in the Department of Control & Mechatronics Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2003. In 2005, he was promoted to lecturer after completing his studies in Master of Engineering (Electrical – Mechatronics & Automatic Control). Dr. Kumeresan was then awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia to pursue his Ph.D. at the Aalborg University, Denmark. During the doctoral program, Dr. Kumeresan had the opportunity to spend some time conducting research at the Georgia Institute of Technology, United States. Upon the completion of Ph.D. in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, he was appointed as a senior lecturer in 2012.
