Visit from Bayu Corp Sdn. Bhd.

On 1st Oct, CEES was visited by  Bayu Corp Sdn. Bhd. Both had a meeting session, which was aimed to serve as a platform for collaboration between CEES and the Bumiputra company. [show-hide display=”inline”]Bayu Corp is a company that focuses on wind energy products such as wind turbine and wind tower. CEES and Bayu Corp had a general discussion of embarking on  the company’s hydro energy project.[/show-hide]

MoU Signing Ceremony

One of the highlights of the year, the energy audit program with Isunsg Management Sdn Bhd, is coming one step closer to realization after an MoU between CEES and Isunsg Management Sdn Bhd was signed on 29 September 2014. [show-hide display=”inline”]The event took place at Dewan Bankuet, UTM, along with another MoU signing between UTM MPOB and KPRJ. Isunsg Management Sdn Bhd was represented by its Managing Director, Dato’ Amrul Hisyam bin Alias and its Chief Operating Officer, Kamal Azli bin Mustapa Kamal. The MoU signing ceremony marks the start of CEES’s consultation services to the company regarding energy auditing, more precisely on air-conditioner systems.[/show-hide]

Director’s Visit to Taiwain Universities

CEEC Director, Assoc. prof. Dr. Mohammad Yusri Hassan visited three universities in Taiwan on a week trip from 22-26 September 2014.

Visit from Visi Anak Negeri

On 23rd July, CEES was visited by members from an event organizer company by the name Visi Anak Negeri. Both sides discussed about the testing of street lighting that the company is working on. This kind of visit is envisioned to foster relationship between CEES and local companies.

Farewell Gathering for Departing Staff

On 29th April 2014, CEES held a farewell gathering to commemorate its two staff who will be leaving by the end of the month. [show-hide display=”inline”]Norhazlina Omar has been working as CEES’s research assistant since CEES’s establishment in 2009. The other staff, Siti Alliah Mohd Salleh, was one of CEES’s tutor since 2009. She will end her service at CEES in exchange for another placement in UiTM Shah Alam. CEES would like to thank both staff for their dedicated service throughout the past years and would like to wish them the best in their future undertakings.[/show-hide]

Preliminary Discussion with Smart Grid Representative from the University of Newcastle, Australia

On 21st April 2014, CEES held a preliminary discussion with Dr. Mohammad Hadi Zulfiqar, the Business Developer Officer of Newcastle Innovation Ltd, University of Newcastle (UoN), Australia. [show-hide display=”inline”]The prime objective of the meeting was to explore possible research collaborations with UoN, more particularly in the areas of organic PV and smart grid. As a first step, CEES planned to organize a 2-day short course (around October-November) on smart grid that involves an expert from UoN. Consequently, the centre decided to send a delegation including the Director himself  to visit UoN and its Smart Grid Project’s power control system site, and have further dialogue with  its smart grid expert, Prof. Jo Dong. The visit is agreed to take place on 23-24 May 2014.[/show-hide]

Short Course: Green Energy Technologies 

On 15-16 April 2014, CEES successfully organized a short course on Green Energy Technologies (GET) at Palm Garden Hotel, Putrajaya. The 2-day course,  officiated by CEES Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Yusri Hassan. There were 22 participants from various disciplines, [show-hide display=”inline”]more particularly academicians, postgraduate students, researchers, and industrial professional participants. Among the important topics discussed in the course include integration of green technologies into buildings, application of sizing and location, prospect of renewable energy in Malaysia, and economics of renewable energies. The course concluded with a two-side forum between participants and speakers. Despite the tightly scheduled event, it was successfully held, special thanks to CEES’s visiting professor, Prof. Wu Yuan Kang and Malaysian Green Technology Corporation’s COO, Ahmad Zairin Ismail. CEES would also like to thank everybody else who participated and contributed to the success of the event.[/show-hide]

9th International Energy Agency (IEA) Task 13 Meeting

On April 1-3 2014, two CEES members took part in the 9th International Energy Agency (IEA) Task 13 Meeting, which was held at Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy (ISE), Freiburg, Germany. [show-hide display=”inline”]Malaysia was represented by two experts, Prof. Zainal Salam from CEES UTM, and Dr. Sulaiman Shaari from UiTM Shah Alam, both with expertise in the area of reliability and performance of PV power systems. In addition, CEES Deputy Director, Dr. Hasimah Abdul Rahman, was also present at the meeting as an invitee and observer. Based on the meeting on the first day, the Malaysian representatives were given the specific task  of making studies of performance of PV inverter system in tropical countries and looking at degradation of PV modules over long period of environmental exposure. These task is part of a 7-year project starting from 2000-2007 and is sponsored by Malaysian Greentech Malaysia Building Integrated PV (MBIPV). The extension of the meeting was an open workshop of Reliability of PV Systems, which took place on the following day. On the final day, participants had a general tour to the Franhoufer ISE Labs and Freiburg Renewable Energy facilities. Malaysia is an active member of the IEA and recently hosted the 8th IEA meeting in Kuala Lumpur which dated back in October 2013. The next IEA meeting will be held in Kyoto, Japan.[/show-hide]
