FEC is an interdisciplinary centre for research, consultancy and graduate and professional training in forensic study on building and infrastructure related areas. Although it was officially formed in 2015, most of the FEC members have carried out many forensic investigations and structural assessment projects since early 1990s when they were working under Civil Engineering Testing Unit (CETU). Today, CETU, which was accredited with ISO 17025 since 2004, is the most prominent laboratory test partner of FEC.<\/p>\n

    The Forensic Engineering Centre, FEC was established in February\u00a02015, as an effort to integrate available expertise in various fields at UTM to understand and to overcome complex problems related to the forensic engineering.<\/p>

    FEC is an interdisciplinary centre for research, consultancy and graduate and professional training in forensic study on building and infrastructure related areas. Although it was officially formed in 2015, most of the FEC research fellows and\u00a0associate research fellows have vast experience in forensic studies and investigation through consultancy works since early 1990s when they were working under Civil Engineering Testing Unit (CETU).\u00a0 Today, CETU, which was accredited with ISO 17025 since 2004, is the most prominent laboratory test partner of FEC.<\/p>

    FEC \u00a0activities and interests encompass several broad areas, and it is a flexible organization allows for response to new issues as they arise. Current areas of emphasis include :<\/p>

    • \u00a0Failure investigation (collapse due to construction accident, natural hazard such as flood, earthquake)<\/li>
    • \u00a0Structural assessment (evaluation of structures which are prone to be affected by failure or disaster)<\/li>
    • \u00a0Retrofit\u00a0 (repair of building due to structural defect or hazard \/ disaster)<\/li><\/ul>
