The IJN-UTM Cardiovascular Engineering Center (IJN-UTM CEC), joined hands with the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) to conduct the Professional Course on Good Clinical Practice (GCP) 2023. This course occurred from 6th to 8th March 2023 at the School of Biomedical Engineering and Health Sciences, UTM, Johor.<\/p>\n

Good clinical practice (GCP) is a process that incorporates established ethical and scientific quality standards for the design, conduct, recording, and reporting of clinical research involving the participation of human subjects. The attainment of GCP certification represents a globally recognised ethical, scientific, and practical benchmark for all clinical research endeavours. It ensures that researchers engaged in such studies are suitably trained and possess the necessary expertise to undertake their tasks with utmost precision and responsibility.<\/p>\n

The professional course lasted three days, including two and a half lectures and an hour of GCP examination. The GCP lecture was delivered by a renowned speaker, Prof. Dr Abdul Rashid Bin Abdul Rahman, Subcommittee, Malaysian Guideline of Good Clinician Practice, Medical Director AN-NUR Specialist Hospital, followed by Mr Oh Chen Wei, GCP and GLP Section, Centre for Compliance and Quality Control, National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA); Ms Tang Sia Chin, Principle Assistant Director, Evaluation & Safety of Investigational New Product Section, Centre of Product & Cosmetic Evaluation, National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) and Dr Ahmad Zahran Md. Khudzari, Deputy Chairman, Clinical Research Ethics Committee, UTM.<\/p>\n

While the GCP certificates from the MOH will be given to those who pass the examination, individuals who do not pass can retake the GCP examination. The invaluable knowledge acquired through this professional course is a guiding light, empowering researchers to conduct their investigations with unwavering ethical principles and integrity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
