IVAT Monthly Talk Series \u2013 July 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For July\u2019s monthly talk, Dr Zuraimy Adzis was invited as a speaker to deliver his presentation on \u2018How to Save Electricity \u2013 Saving Money or Energy?\u201d through online platform on July 12th<\/sup>, 2020. This talk took approximately 2 hours and participants were generally from academician, students as well as from industries. The topic is of interest to many participants as it is related to the current issue of high electricity bill since many of us were staying and working from home due to pandemic COVID19. Participants were exposed to how they can save electricity such as using natural light, pull the plug, go easy on the air conditioning, choose electrical appliances with inverter technology (energy saving application) and minimise the use of electrical appliances with heater like iron, water heater, dryer and oven. Dr Zuraimy also reminded participants to ensure usage as essentials only and use electricity only up to reduce tariff block in order to minimise the bills. Participants were also gained knowledge on how electrical energy is converted to other forms of energy in our everyday life and how is it measured. It is hoped that this talk benefits the participants in terms of applying the knowledge in their daily life to minimise the electricity use. Our personal changes might seem small, but momentum and progress will become visible as more people become conscious of the effects of their electricity use. Until the time when we can fully depend on renewable energy sources, we need to contribute to our collective effort of preserving natural resources and slowing down the effect of global warming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
