The training was held at <strong data-start=\"538\" data-end=\"618\">Le Grandeur Palm Resort Johor and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor Bahru<\/strong>. The five-day programme was designed to equip industry professionals with the knowledge and competencies required to support organizations in complying with the <strong data-start=\"781\" data-end=\"835\">Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (EECA) 2024<\/strong>, which mandates designated energy consumers to appoint qualified <strong data-start=\"901\" data-end=\"937\">Registered Energy Managers (REM)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"940\" data-end=\"1270\">A total of <strong data-start=\"951\" data-end=\"1036\">five participants representing five organizations from various industrial sectors<\/strong> participated in the training. Throughout the training, participants were exposed to comprehensive modules covering energy policy and governance, energy management systems, energy auditing, and practical energy efficiency strategies. The training programme was delivered by experienced academic and industry experts from UTM, including:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1376\" data-end=\"1528\">\n<li data-section-id=\"1jdcqwe\" data-start=\"1376\" data-end=\"1413\">\n<p data-start=\"1378\" data-end=\"1413\"><strong data-start=\"1378\" data-end=\"1411\">Prof. Ir. Dr. Haslenda Hashim<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1f0yvtd\" data-start=\"1414\" data-end=\"1453\">\n<p data-start=\"1416\" data-end=\"1453\"><strong data-start=\"1416\" data-end=\"1451\">Ir. Ts. Dr. Muhammad Afiq Zubir<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1fmfbcz\" data-start=\"1454\" data-end=\"1490\">\n<p data-start=\"1456\" data-end=\"1490\"><strong data-start=\"1456\" data-end=\"1488\">Assoc. Bhd., Mewaholeo Industries Sdn. Bhd., CBRE GWS Sdn. Bhd., Hershey Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., and Foxconn Technology Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.<\/strong> The participation reflects the growing commitment among industry stakeholders to enhance energy efficiency practices and strengthen sustainability initiatives.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/research.utm.my\/prospect\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/88\/2026\/03\/IMG_20260210_090707-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20587\" src=\"https:\/\/research.utm.my\/prospect\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/88\/2026\/03\/IMG_20260210_090707-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"967\" height=\"435\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1931\" data-end=\"2043\">The programme concluded with a <strong data-start=\"1962\" data-end=\"2026\">competency assessment conducted at PROSPECT, UTM Johor Bahru<\/strong>, which included:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2045\" data-end=\"2185\">\n<li data-section-id=\"wrcpp5\" data-start=\"2045\" data-end=\"2106\">\n<p data-start=\"2047\" data-end=\"2106\">A <strong data-start=\"2049\" data-end=\"2104\">written theoretical examination (1 hour 30 minutes)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"y1zzvx\" data-start=\"2107\" data-end=\"2144\">\n<p data-start=\"2109\" data-end=\"2144\">A <strong data-start=\"2111\" data-end=\"2142\">technical interview session<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1r0zoj1\" data-start=\"2145\" data-end=\"2185\">\n<p data-start=\"2147\" data-end=\"2185\">An <strong data-start=\"2150\" data-end=\"2185\">individual project presentation<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2187\" data-end=\"2357\">These assessments were designed to evaluate participants\u2019 understanding of energy management principles and their ability to apply them in real-world industrial contexts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"not-prose mt-0! mb-0! flex-auto truncate\"><a href=\"https:\/\/research.utm.my\/prospect\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/88\/2026\/03\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-14-at-12.36.20-PM.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20564\" src=\"https:\/\/research.utm.my\/prospect\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/88\/2026\/03\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-02-14-at-12.36.20-PM.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"868\" height=\"391\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2484\" data-end=\"2902\">The REM Type 1 Training Programme is part of ongoing efforts by <strong data-start=\"2548\" data-end=\"2568\">UTM and PROSPECT<\/strong> to support industry professionals in improving energy efficiency practices and complying with the requirements of the <strong data-start=\"2687\" data-end=\"2741\">Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act (EECA) 2024<\/strong>. The programme also aims to strengthen the pool of qualified energy professionals capable of managing energy consumption effectively within their organizations. The REM Type 1 Training forms part of UTMSPACE and PROSPECT\u2019s continuous efforts to support industry professionals and organizations in strengthening energy management capabilities and advancing Malaysia\u2019s sustainability agenda.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2642\" data-end=\"2829\">Following the successful completion of the February session, the <strong data-start=\"2707\" data-end=\"2773\">next Registered Energy Manager (REM Type 1) Training Programme<\/strong> will be conducted from <strong data-start=\"2797\" data-end=\"2828\">4\u20138 May 2026 in Johor Bahru an 10-14 August 2026 in Penang. <\/strong>The training is open to <strong data-start=\"2856\" data-end=\"2959\">engineers, facility managers, energy managers, sustainability officers, and technical professionals<\/strong> who wish to enhance their expertise in energy management and prepare for compliance with <strong data-start=\"3049\" data-end=\"3062\">EECA 2024<\/strong>.The training is <strong data-start=\"3091\" data-end=\"3109\">HRDC claimable<\/strong>, allowing organizations to utilize their HRDC levy to support staff development.
