<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ITU Asia Pacific Centre of Excellence Online Training Course on \u201cFifth Generation (5G) Radio Access Network Planning and Technology Coexistence\u201d<\/strong>, was successfully conducted from 14th \u2013 28th September 2020<\/strong> using the ITU Academy platform and Webex video conferencing tools. The online training workshop was successfully organised by the Wireless Communication Centre, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This course achieves a well-balanced participation from local and international participants. Specifically, this course is attended by 53% local participants and 47% international participants. Overseas participations are from Canada (1), India (1), United Kingdom (1), Qatar (1), Afghanistan (1), Australia (1), Thailand (1), Kenya (1) and Indonesia (1). From 19 participants who attended the online training, 58% were from the industry and 42% were from academia. In terms of gender distribution, a well-balanced representation of 47% female participants and 53% male participants have participated in this training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Training Course Structure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Effective radio access network planning and technology coexistence are critical to the success of 5G network deployment This course aims to equip participants with an in-depth view of Fifth Generation telecommunication technology, from the perspective of 5G New Radio (NR), radio access network planning and technology existence. The specific objectives of the course are<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 To equip the participants with fundamental understanding of 5G requirements, usage scenarios, network architecture, concept of network softwarization, virtualization and cloudification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 To equip the participants with understanding on cloud radio access network (RAN) and the specifications of NR air interface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 To equip the participants with understanding on the aspects of 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) planning and optimisation at different spectrum bands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
