A discussion on preparing a professional course on Good Clinical Practice (GCP) 2021 has been held on 29 March 2021. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Ahmad Zahran Md Khudzari, the Director of IJN-UTM Cardio Centre, and attended by Dr. Siti Nor Syairah Anis, the Post-Doctoral Fellow and GCP Program Director, Mr. Muhammad Akmal Ayob, Research Officer of IJN-UTM Cardio Centre, and the team of the GCP 2021 organizing committee.
The motivation of organizing the professional course on GCP is due to consideration observed on the competency of the researcher in conducting clinical testing has significant impacts on clinical sites. It is an annual program run by IJN-UTM Cardio Centre to accommodate the preparation of researchers in clinical trials and the commercialization of research and innovation.
It also aims to equip the researcher to have depth knowledge of GCP and meet the global requirement where GCP is an international ethical and scientific quality standard for designing, conducting, performing, monitoring, auditing, recording, analyzing, and reporting clinical trials. It also serves to protect the rights, integrity, and confidentiality of trial subjects.
The progress meeting discussion covers the possibility of the GCP course to be conducted virtually due to the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, where mobility is restricted and physical gathering is prohibited. The content of the GCP course has also been discussed. It includes theoretical and practical know-how to the participants by bringing technological advancements into an ethical paradigm in the clinical environment. the exciting thing about this program is that the participants will sit for the GCP exam, and the successful participants will be certified by the Ministry of Health.
