TITLE
AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE SAFETY AND TESTING
ABSTRACT
The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that around 1.35 million people were killed yearly as a result of road traffic. Financially, road traffic crashes cost about 3% of each country’s GDP yearly. A separate study suggested that human error causes at least nine out of ten accidents. Reducing human error risk by shifting and adopting automated/autonomous vehicle technologies and advanced driver’s assistance systems on vehicles. In eMooVit Technology, we are focusing on the development of software stack for autonomous vehicles to reduce crashes and vehicle-related fatalities. In order to verify that the autonomous vehicle behaviour meets the safety requirements, extensive testing is carried out in both the compound area (control environment) and the public road (real traffic condition). Functionality and safety tests, behaviour and comfort evaluations, scenario tests, reliability tests, and general durability tests are all part of the testing. MyAV committee and MOT have already granted eMooVit Technology permission to perform trials and tests in Cyberjaya, Putrajaya, and the BRT Sunway public route. Initial trials and testing of RoboShuttele (AV Buggy) and EAV Bus were undertaken in the Cyberjaya compound area and public road using MyAV Version 4 guidelines. It is observed that there are no issues seen and autonomous driving can be performed as per design requirement with good behaviour and comfort.
