IJN-UTM Cardiovascular Engineering Centre or known as IJN-UTM Cardio Centre is one of the UTM Centre of Excellence (CoE), under the management of Institute of Human Centered Engineering (iHumEn). It was established in 2013 with a collaboration between National Heart Institute (Institut Jantung Negara – IJN) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM)

Basic Health Screening Section at SK Sega

During the Knowledge Transfer Program (KTP) at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sega (SK Sega), a team from IJN-UTM CEC with the collaboration of Rantau medical doctor has provided a Basic Health Screening to the community of SK Sega, mostly parents and PIBG members, Among the screening were the measurements of BMI, blood pressure, temperature, oxygen level, glucose level and the medical advice from the doctor.

IJN-UTM CEC collaborated with PGSS-FKM to conduct a successful Knowledge Transfer Program called “Program Memasyarakatkan Ilmu” at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sega in Rantau, Negeri Sembilan. We express our heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Dr. Kahar Osman as the Program Leader and to all those who participated and contributed to the success of this meaningful initiative.
Securing Industrial Grants: Early 2024 Achievement

Congratulation to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azli Yahya and Dr. Syafiqah Saidin, the full fellows of IJN-UTM CEC, for securing two industrial grants from Mindmatics Sdn. Bhd. (2 years project) and IJN Sdn. Bhd. (1 year project) with a total amount of RM283,230. The project with Mindmatics involves the development of machining metallic implants while the project with IJN involves the development of research management system. Congrates to both fellows and may the project conduction run smoothly.

Introducing UTM Researcher of the Week, Dr. Syafiqah Saidin, a senior lecturer at the Department of Biomedical Engineering & Health Sciences, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, UTM Johor Bahru. Dr. Syafiqah, an alumna of UTM, specializes in Biomaterials, Tissue Engineering, and Drug Delivery. She is also the Director of the IJN-UTM Cardiovascular Engineering Centre in UTM Johor Bahru, conducting her research under the Health & Wellness Research Alliance. https://www.facebook.com/univteknologimalaysia
Management Committee Meeting 01/2024

IJN-UTM CEC team led by Dr. Syafiqah Saidin has travelled to IJN Sdn. Bhd. at Kuala Lumpur to have their first Management Committee meeting in 2024 with the Clinical Research team led by Dato’ Dr. Suhaini Kadiman. A recap has been done on the program and activities in 2023 and few planning ahead for 2024 was discussed. This sustainability collaboration between academia and industry should be nourished for the benefit of humankind.

Welcome to Dr. Jaweria Ambreen from COMSATS University, Pakistan for your appointment as UTM Postdoctoral Fellow for 2 years until 30 June 2025. Dr. Jaweria is supervised under Dr. Syafiqah Saidin, working on the UTM Fantastic 4 Program: Biodegradable Materials. She is majorly working in Biomedical Sciences Laboratory and Biocompatibility Laboratory.Â
Arduino Essential: A Beginner’s Workshop 2024

A 1-day online workshop on Arduino Essentials: A Beginner’s Workshop 2024 has been successfully conducted with 21 participants from various backgrounds. The workshop module was delivered by Assoc Prof. Ir. Dr. Tan Tian Swee and Mr. Leong Kah Meng, followed by the hands-on session via the online Arduino platform (https://wokwi.com/). The workshop is specifically intended to provide the basics of Arduino programming, circuit design, and hands-on projects.
Program Visit from Daegu Catholic University, Korea

A visit by Prof. Young Soo Sohn a Professor in Department of Biomedical Engineering, Daegu Catholic University, Korea with 6 undergraduate students to IJN-UTM Cardiovascular Engineering Centre to discuss possible research collaboration by IJN-UTM fellows. Apart from that, a visit to the EMC lab and VICON Lab under the Sport Innovation & Technology Centre (SITC).
