About IBD
The Chemical Engineering Pilot Plant (CEPP) was established as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in 1998 before being recognized as Institute of Bioproduct Development in 2011 by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE). Throughout the years, IBD had built partnerships with industries and research institutes both locally and globally, positioning itself as one of the leading research institute for bioproduct development in Malaysia that offers various services including specialized training, rentals of equipments and analysis services.

Research & Bioproduct Development
Research and bioproduct development in IBD are divided into 5 units: Cosmeceuticals & Aromatherapy, Microbial & Bioprocessing, Herbal & Phytochemical, Food & Nutraceuticals and Biomass & Biomaterial
Services
IBD provide analytical services, bioprocessing facilities and herbal extraction services for research and industrial purposes. Our Herbal Extraction Centre (HEC) and Bioprocess Technology Services (BTS) are available at both intermediate and pilot scale.
Short Courses & Trainings
IBD provides short courses and training for various fields and specialised skills such as Analytical Techniques for Herbal & Microbial, Granulation & Tableting, and Cosmetic Formulation. Our courses are taught by experts from the field and is open to everyone.
