Herbal & Phytochemical Unit
The Herbal and Phytochemical Unit at IBD was established to advance research on medicinal plants and plant-derived bioactive compounds. The unit focuses on the identification, extraction, and characterization of phytochemicals with potential health and therapeutic benefits. In addition, the unit explores plant-based alternatives for agricultural applications, including natural pesticides and sustainable crop solutions. By integrating traditional herbal knowledge with modern scientific approaches, the unit aims to support the development of evidence-based herbal, agricultural, and natural product innovations.
