Many developing countries including Malaysia are implementing energy efficiency and labeling program for electrical appliances. Lighting such as CFL and straight tube FL are given priority in the labeling program as they are the most commonly used light source in  residential and commercial sectors. As such, the Illumination Lab, a laboratory to test lighting, was established in the Electrical Engineering Faculty of UTM under the supervision of the CEES department. It will act as an accredited  laboratory which is part of implementing energy efficiency labeling program.
