A delegation of INSTeG has participated in the 34th Asian Conference on Remote Sensing (ACRS 2013) in Bali, Indonesia from 20 – 24 October 2013. The delegation from INSTeG was led by Prof. Mazlan Hashim, Director of INSTeG. The team consisted of three staff members and nine students. The delegates from INSTeG presented their work in various technical sessions at the conference and participated in the cultural night performance. We are very proud to say that the student delegates from INSTeG have won the SILVER award at the cultural night performance for performing the ZAPIN Dance representing Malaysia in competition to student delegates from others country such as China, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, etc. Moreover, a master student from INSTeG, Foo Yen Sin has won Best Poster Award at a technical session of the ACRS 2013.
This conference is one of the top conferences in the field of geospatial technologies which is attended by researchers, scientists, decision makers, and practitioners from developed and developing countries to share views on the challenges and opportunities of remote sensing and applications in solving the world’s problems. This year, ACRS 2013 received more than 1000 participations. 811 papers have been presented in the oral and poster sessions. The INSTeG team is attending this annual conference since 2010. This is the second time that INSTeG students have won awards at this conference. The first one was received by Dr. Jaw Siow Wei, Phd Student at the time. She received the so called JSPRS Award in the year 2011 during the 32nd Asian Conference on Remote Sensing in Taipei, Taiwan for her work.
