TAIPEI, 7 October 2011: UTM postgraduate student won JSPRS Award in 32nd Asian Conference on Remote Sensing (ACRS 2011) held on 3-7 October 2011 in Taipei International Convention Center (TICC), Taiwan.
JSPRS Award is initiated by Japan Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (JSPRS) in order to promote young scientists and students from Asian counties. In each ACRS, a number of young authors less than 35 who presented best papers or best poster will be selected as the winner. Each Awardee at will received a memorable gift and certificate at the closing ceremony of ACRS.
The paper entitles “Detection and Mapping of Subsurface Utility Mapping Using Ground Penetrating Radar” written by Jaw Siow Wei, co-author by Prof. Dr. Mazlan Hashim, Director of Institute of Geospatial Science & Technology (INSTeG) received JSPRS Award in 32nd ACRS 2011. Jaw Siow Wei is currently 3rd year postgraduate student from Department of Remote Sensing, Faculty of Geoinformation & Real Estate, as the main author for this outstanding paper, she has been selected as one of the winner for JSPSR Award among the 5 recipients in the categories of young scientists ages below 35 over 30 Asian countries including Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, China, Thailand, Philippines, India, Canada, Australia, Malaysia and etc for this award.
