WAY FORWARD
Climate change mitigation and the drive to achieve net zero are some of the top agendas for many governments in the world, including Malaysia. Transportation as one of the biggest contributors to emissions will inevitably be subject to stringent policies for continuous improvement. The vision for Malaysia, based on the National Automotive Policy 2020 (NAP2020), is to become an energy efficient vehicle (EEV) hub. The global definition of an EEV is vehicles that meet a set of stringent limits in terms of carbon emissions (CO2 / km) and fuel consumption (L / km). EEVs include fuel efficient vehicles, hybrids, electric vehicles and alternatively fueled vehicles, e.g. CNG, LPG, Biodiesel, Ethanol, Hydrogen and Fuel Cells. The EEV vision in NAP2020 is also in line with the thrust under the National Transport Policy 2019-2030 and meets the focus areas of the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint. Thus, to support the national agenda, IVeSE will focused on ‘Energy Efficient Vehicles for Transportation Applications’ with scope of research in Advanced Powertrain Technology, Fuel & Combustion Efficiency, and Advanced Enhancement Technology.Contact
