KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has introduced an innovative way to get the younger generation interested in learning more about past leaders with the opening of the Tun Abdul Razak Interactive Memorial Gallery.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said interactive galleries would pique the younger generation’s interest in history.
“For us to understand the present and to know where the country is headed, it is vital for us to appreciate what the country has gone through in the past,” Najib said when opening the gallery at the former premier’s official residence on Jalan Perdana here yesterday.
The interactive memorial is believed to be the first of its kind in the world showcasing the life and times of a statesman.
The gallery was opened in conjunction with Tun Razak’s 40th death anniversary.
Najib lauded Arkib Negara for taking the initiative to work together with Majlis Aspirasi Pemangkin Nasional (MAPAN) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s MaGIX-X to bring the otherwise static gallery to life using augmented reality technology.
Tun Razak Interactive Memorial Gallery project manager Associate Professor Dr Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim said they were planning to set up a similar gallery in Putrajaya for the serving Prime Minister.
