Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Lishui University, China Forge Educational Partnership

CHINA, 9 Jan – In a bid to strengthen international ties and foster academic collaboration, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s (UTM) Vice-Chancellor,  Prof. Datuk. Ir. Ts. Dr Ahmad Fauzi  Ismail, along with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr. Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim, led a delegation to Lishui University, China.

The meeting, attended by Lishui University President Li An and Vice President Hu Fengji, marked a significant step toward building a cooperative relationship between the two institutions.

Welcoming the delegation, Lishui University President Ang Lee extended a warm reception and provided an overview of Lishui’s history and the school’s key attributes. He emphasized the potential for deepening friendship and cooperation between the two educational establishments.

President Li An highlighted the significance of the expert team’s visit, expressing optimism about the positive impact it would have on open education quality and the expansion of international exchanges and talent training opportunities.

In response, Prof. Ahmad Fauzi conveyed his gratitude for the warm reception and provided insights into UTM’s history, campus environment, faculty, students, scientific research, and key laboratories. He expressed eagerness for collaboration through initiatives such as undergraduate student exchange, graduate student cooperative training, and teacher exchange programs.

Additionally, Prof. Dr. Mohd Shafry delved into UTM’s  exchange programs and the micro-credit system during the meeting. Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on specific collaboration content.

The collaboration reached a significant milestone with a formal cooperation agreement signing ceremony at the conclusion of the event. The ceremony was attended by key representatives from both institutions, including the Deputy Director of Global Strategy and Engagement, CEO, Graduate Academic Supervisor of UTM, Head of the Discipline Construction and Graduate Management Office, International Cooperation and Exchange Office, School of Ecology, School of Mathematics and Computers, and School of Engineering, as well as the School of Nationalities (Humanities). Doctoral representatives from the School also participated, alongside relevant officials from the Malaysian United Wing Aid.

Prior to the meeting, the UTM delegation explored local cultural attractions, visiting the Shuyun Celadon Museum and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry Technology Innovation Service Platform. This visit laid the groundwork for a promising educational partnership, fostering cultural understanding and academic collaboration between the two institutions.
