Kuala Lumpur, 10 January 2024 – The Faculty of Technology and Informatics Razak (FTIR) and Cyberphysical Systems Research Group Razak, in partnership with NVIDIA, successfully organized a research seminar on the topic of NVIDIA GPU Technology for Artificial Intelligence (AI). The event took place at Bilik Mesyuarat Tingkat 5, Menara Razak, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur and was attended by approximately 90 participants, with 20 joining in person and 70 virtually from different parts of Malaysia.

The seminar focused on the latest advancements in AI and the crucial role played by NVIDIA GPUs in speeding up research and applications. The program included an engaging keynote address by Dr. Ettikan K.K., Chief Technologist of NVIDIA APEC, and two NVIDIA researchers presenting case studies on university research and business analytics data. Dr Ettikan offered insightful perspectives on the impact of NVIDIA GPU platforms in the AI field. At the same time, the researchers shared valuable experiences from the DLI Institute and research initiatives that utilized NVIDIA resources.

Throughout the afternoon, several case studies showcased successful implementations of AI leveraging NVIDIA’s technology. Attendees witnessed the potential of NVIDIA frameworks across various domains, including medical imaging, language models, and robotics. These real-world examples sparked lively discussions and demonstrated the revolutionary potential of AI powered by cutting-edge NVIDIA technology.

Besides the technical knowledge, the seminar provided a dynamic environment for networking and collaboration. Attendees, including researchers, practitioners, and students, had the chance to interact with NVIDIA experts, exchange ideas, and explore potential future collaborations.

“It is a timely opportunity for us to begin the year 2024 with a knowledge exchange session with NVIDIA on AI, particularly since UTM has been entrusted with the responsibility of establishing Malaysia’s Faculty of Artificial Intelligence,” said Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Naz’ri Mahrin, Dean of the Faculty of Technology and Informatics Razak.

The seminar serves as a testament to UTM’s dedication to promoting innovation and advanced research in AI. Collaborating with industry giants such as NVIDIA, the university aims to provide students, researchers, and experts with the necessary skills and tools to shape the future of AI.
