“The Success Story of Malaysian Ideas” – Prof. Salman Shares Expertise on Noise and Vibration

PUTRAJAYA, 27 Nov – The Malaysia Idea’s Summit (MyIDEAS), organized by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), kicked off today at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC).

This three-day event aims to democratize ideas and higher education on a broader scale while positioning Malaysia as a regional and global hub for intellectual discourse and innovation. The summit adopts a whole-of-government approach, reflecting collaboration across sectors to achieve these ambitious goals.

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is among the institutions actively contributing to the summit as exhibitors, as well as through the involvement of expert panellists, moderators, and chairpersons in various programs. These include forums, parallel sessions, and pocket talks designed to spark meaningful discussions and share innovative insights.

On the first day, one of the key highlights was Forum 2: The Success of Malaysian Ideas, which featured distinguished speakers from various industries. Among them was Prof. Salman Dr. Leong, Director of the Institute of Noise and Vibration (IKG), a prestigious Higher Institution Centre of Excellence (HICoE).

Prof. Salman joined a panel of renowned figures, including, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes (CEO, AirAsia), Tan Sri Mohamed Nazir Tun Dato Indera Haji Abdul Razak (Ikhlas Capital) and Dato’ Kamarul A Muhamed (CEO, Aerodyne Group).

The session was chaired by YB Tuan Ahmad Fahmi Mohamad Fadzil, the Minister of Communications. Together, the panellists explored how transformative ideas emerge in Malaysia and the factors that contribute to their success.

Prof. Salman offered valuable insights drawn from his extensive academic and professional experience, emphasizing the critical role of discipline and resilience in academia.

He encouraged participants to view challenges as opportunities for innovation and to foster collaboration between universities, industries, and government bodies to drive impactful outcomes.

Besides contributing to national mega projects such as the MRT and KLIA Sky Bridge, he also highlighted IKG’s involvement in the construction of the PICC Plenary Hall, particularly in addressing its acoustics.
