Hungarian Rectors’ Conference Visits UTM Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 12 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur welcomed a distinguished delegation from the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference (HRC) during an official visit aimed at strengthening international academic collaboration. Led by HRC President Professor László Borhy, the delegation included 14 university leaders from eight esteemed Hungarian higher education institutions. Also in attendance was the Hungarian Ambassador to Malaysia, H.E. Dr. Petra Ponevacs-Pana.

The visit, hosted by Prof. Ts. Dr. Abd Latif Saleh, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the UTM Kuala Lumpur Campus, provided a strategic platform for both institutions to engage in productive discussions on enhancing academic cooperation, joint research initiatives, and student and staff exchange programs. The delegation arrived at the UTM Kuala Lumpur campus and was warmly welcomed at the Ilmuan 1 Room, Anjung Menara Razak. Prof. Ts. Dr. Abd Latif Saleh delivered a welcoming speech outlining UTM’s commitment to fostering global partnerships and showcasing the university’s significant achievements in research, innovation, and international collaboration.

Following the opening remarks, representatives from both UTM and HRC participated in introductory sessions, offering overviews of their respective institutions. This exchange laid the groundwork for more in-depth discussions on potential collaborative areas.

UTM and HRC delegates delivered presentations that showcased their academic strengths, research expertise, and institutional aspirations. These presentations highlighted the shared vision of both institutions in advancing education, research, and innovation.

A dedicated meeting session was then held to discuss three pivotal agendas. The first was Academic Staff Exchange, where both parties explored the feasibility of faculty exchange programs aimed at enhancing cross-cultural teaching methodologies and research collaborations.

The second agenda focused on Joint Research and Publications, with discussions centered on co-authoring academic papers, securing international research grants, and establishing long-term research partnerships in key areas such as science, technology, and engineering.

Lastly, the meeting addressed Industry-University Cooperation, where the delegation examined potential collaborations with industries, emphasizing internship opportunities, technology transfer, and applied research ventures.

As a token of appreciation, souvenirs were exchanged between UTM and HRC delegates, followed by a commemorative group photo session.

The visit concluded with a guided campus tour, which allowed the Hungarian delegates to explore UTM Kuala Lumpur’s state-of-the-art research facilities. The tour included visits to the Azman Hashim International Business School (AHIBS), the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), and the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIRO).

The delegation expressed admiration for UTM’s commitment to pioneering research in artificial intelligence, sustainable energy, and technological advancements, further strengthening their interest in forming long-term academic partnerships.

This significant visit by the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference marks a milestone in UTM’s ongoing efforts to expand its global academic network. The discussions held during the visit are expected to pave the way for meaningful collaborations, benefiting students, researchers, and faculty members from both institutions.

With a shared vision of excellence in higher education, UTM and HRC look forward to fostering a dynamic partnership that will contribute to the advancement of knowledge, innovation, and international academic mobility. This collaboration stands as a testament to UTM’s unwavering commitment to becoming a global hub for educational and research excellence.
