Civil Engineering Testing Unit (CETU)

 

INTRODUCTION

Civil Engineering Testing Unit (CETU) under the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor Bahru, Johor was established in 1998. This Unit serves as a centre in conducting tests in accordance to the requirements stated in the working instruction compliance to MS ISO/IEC 17025: 2005. Services offered by CETU include project consultancy, forensic engineering investigation and testing of construction materials. Tests are carried out at two divisional laboratories namely Structures & Materials Laboratory and Geotechnics Laboratory. CETU has a strong policy to produce test report within the stipulated time frame.

POLICY STATEMENT

CETU is responsible for ensuring that all testing within the scope of activities, including the type, range and volume of testing would be implemented efficiently and effectively. Through the full commitment of all personnel, with adequate resources and equipment, CETU will fulfil the customer’s requirement.

2. Water Absorption Test (BS 1881-122: 2011)
3. Flexural Strength Test of Concrete Prisms (BS EN 12390-5: 2009)
4. Indirect Tension Test of Concrete Cylinders (BS EN 12390-6: 2009)
5. Tensile Strength Test of Steel Reinforcement (BS EN ISO 6892-1: 2009)

• Geotechnical Division

1. Moisture Content (BS 1377-2: 1990 Section 3.2)
2. Sieve Test (BS 1377-2: 1990 Section 9.3)
3. Liquid Limit Test (BS 1377-2: 1990 Section 4.4)
4. Plastic Limit Test (BS 1377-2: 1990 Section 5.3)
