About this Research

  • The modification factors for shear capacity when the timber beam is strengthened using GFRP and CFRP were proposed
  • The design parameter for strengthening of composite material to timber beam (type of FRP, number of FRP strips, the orientation angle of FRP and FRP wrapping scheme) was successfully determined.
  • Strengthening of timber beams to the shear zone of beam have  changed the mode of failure from shear failure to combination of compression and tensile fracture with no shear failure at shear zone.
