Alumni Insights: Empowering Future Careers through Language & Communication

JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 5 – The JK Alumni Language Academy proudly hosted the “Alumni Insights: Language, Communication, and Career Excellence” event at Bilik Seminar 2, D06, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Johor Bahru. This inspiring event, part of the Alumni Spotlight series organized by the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities (FSSH) Alumni Team, celebrated the outstanding achievements of ten distinguished alumni from the Language Academy. With 20 students and 20 staff members in attendance, the gathering provided an intimate and motivating environment, fostering meaningful connections between current students and alumni.

The event featured a dynamic mix of hybrid sessions—two held online and two in-person—offering a wide variety of engagement opportunities. Alumni shared their unique experiences, offering valuable insights into how their education in language and communication has shaped their successful careers.

Distinguished alumni from various professional backgrounds featured in the event. Among the academicians were Dr. Wan Nur Asyura Wan Adnan, UTM Kuala Lumpur; Dr. Hazwani Munirah Lateh, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK); Dr. Andi Muhammad Yauri S, Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN), Indonesia; Dr. Ling Xu, Jiangxi Normal University (JXNU), China; and Dr. Mohammad Sohrab Khan, Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), Saudi Arabia.

Also gracing the event were Nur Salawati Mohd Nadzri, Adaptive Learning Engineer at MSTS Asia, Johor; Zaidatul Ahmad, Branch Service Manager at United Overseas Bank (UOB); Nur Ayuni Mohd Khalid, teacher from Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kopok, Pasir Gudang; and Shalini Selvaraj, PhD student at the Language Academy UTM.

Each speaker captivated the audience with personal stories of growth and success, underscoring the pivotal role that language and communication play in today’s globalized world.

Attendees were prompted to think about how they could leverage their language and communication skills to pursue diverse career paths, leading to an enriching exchange of ideas.
