SOUTH TANGERANG, Aug 25 – The Research Centre for Nanotechnology System, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) successfully hosted the 2nd International Seminar on Nanotechnology, Nanomaterials, and Devices (ISNND 2025) at Graha Widya Bhakti, BRIN. The two-day conference brought together leading experts, researchers, and industry professionals to share advances in nanotechnology, nanomaterials, and innovative device applications. The seminar began with welcoming remarks by Prof. Dr. Ratno Nuryadi, M.Eng., Head of Research Organisation for Nanotechnology and Materials, and Dr. Murni Handayani, Head of Research Centre for Nanotechnology System, BRIN.

Keynote sessions featured Prof. Jatuporn Wittayakun from Thailand and Prof. Hirofumi Tanaka from Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan. Prof. Tanaka’s keynote highlighted cutting-edge advances in nanomaterials and device engineering, setting the tone for dynamic discussions throughout the conference. A series of invited talks followed, delivered by leading researchers from Thailand, Indonesia, and other countries. Parallel oral sessions covered a wide range of themes, including smart materials and devices, green nanotechnology and nanomaterials, biomedical engineering and biotechnology, as well as biosensors and chemical sensors. The day concluded with a welcoming dinner, where delegates engaged in informal discussions, building stronger academic and industry networks across borders.

The second day of ISNND 2025 placed Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in the spotlight. A UTM researcher from Faculty of Science delivering a keynote presentation on “Nanomaterials: Beyond the Various Types, Synthesis Methods, Characterisations & Applications”. The session highlighted UTM’s expertise in advanced nanomaterials research and reinforced Malaysia’s growing role in global nanoscience. The keynote was moderated by a BRIN representative, emphasizing the strong partnership between UTM and BRIN in advancing regional nanotechnology collaboration. The presentation also focusing on computational analysis and material innovation in nanotechnology. The keynote showcased UTM’s expertise in advanced nanomaterials, computational chemistry, and nanodevice applications, underlining Malaysia’s growing influence in the global nanoscience community.

The final day was dedicated to a scientific visit to BRIN facilities. Delegates were welcomed to explore BRIN’s state-of-the-art research centers, laboratories, and nanotechnology infrastructure. The visit provided participants with following activities including first-hand exposure to advanced equipment and experimental setups used in nanomaterials synthesis, photonic labs, and device fabrication, opportunities for dialogue with BRIN researchers, fostering discussions on shared challenges in nanoscience and potential pathways for collaborative research and showcasing BRIN’s role as a central hub for nanotechnology research in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, aligning with its mission to strengthen international partnerships.

For UTM and other international delegates, the visit opened new avenues for joint research, technology transfer, and academic exchange, reinforcing the shared commitment between UTM and BRIN to drive innovation in nanoscience and sustainable nanotechnology applications.
