KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 13 –  The Faculty of Artificial Intelligence (FAI) successfully organized the FAI Research Week 2024 (FAI-RW 2024) from November 11 to November 13, 2024, at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur Campus. FAI-RW 2024 is a signature event for FAI, with the primary objective of fostering and establishing a strong research culture. It aims to prepare students and researchers for global research endeavors and to ensure the university’s success and sustainability as one of the Research Universities in Malaysia.

This program enables researchers from four departments within FAI—Intelligent Informatics, Smart Engineering and Advanced Technology, Business Intelligence, Humanities and Governance, and Creative AI—to collaborate effectively. The integration of these four departments has created opportunities for interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research among FAI researchers. The theme for this year’s FAI-RW is “Innovating Intelligent Future.

Prof. Madya Dr. Roslina Ibrahim, the Deputy Dean for Research, Innovation, and Development at FAI, inaugurated FAI-RW 2024. During the opening ceremony, a keynote session titled “Enhancing Productivity Through Artificial Intelligence (AI)” was delivered by Ts. Dr. Hon Hock Woon, Head of Strategic ICT (AI) at MIMOS Berhad.

All activities were focused on research and innovation, aimed at providing researchers and students with exposure to new ideas in the field. Furthermore, the event encouraged collaboration and discussions regarding their respective research efforts. FAI-RW 2024 served as a crucial platform for researchers, staff, and students to present their latest work and share insights about the most recent trends and advancements in both fundamental and applied AI.
