
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) proudly celebrates the outstanding achievements of Mr. Theaveraj a/l Ravi, a Ph.D. candidate in Chemical Engineering, from the Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering (FKT), for his remarkable academic performance, leadership involvement, and international recognition.
Hailing from Nibong Tebal, Penang, Theaveraj began his academic journey in UTM with a Bachelor of Gas Engineering with Honours, graduating in 2023 with First Class Honours. His consistent academic excellence and dedication to research have earned him several prestigious accolades, including the IKM Research Prize in Polymer and Materials Science 2025, to be presented this December, and the Best Undergraduate Research Award (URC 2022).
Beyond academics, Theaveraj has been an active contributor to student leadership and campus life. He currently serves as the Multimedia Executive Committee Member of the Postgraduate Student Society (PGSS UTM) for the 2025/2026 session. During his undergraduate years, he was also the Sports Executive for the Student College Council (KTHO UTM) and the Multimedia Executive for the Chemical-Gas Engineering Student Society (GESS UTM), showcasing his commitment to holistic student development.
Through wise advice and encouragement from both his PhD supervisors, namely Dr. Asiah Nusaibah Masri and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasrinah Abdullah, Theaveraj, has been selected for the prestigious Erasmus+ UAL (KA-171) International Mobility Programme at the University of Almería, Spain, from March to June 2025. This international opportunity reflects his passion for global exposure and research collaboration.
Theaveraj’s success is a source of pride to his parents, Mr. Ravi Rethinam and Mrs. Kunavally Krishnasamy, and serves as an inspiring example of dedication, leadership, and academic excellence among UTM students.
