UTM and Cybersecurity Malaysia Charts Path to 2029 with Cybersecurity Technology Roadmap

CyberSecurity Malaysia, the nation’s foremost cybersecurity technical agency, is advancing with the Cyber Security Technology Roadmap: Cybersecurity Malaysia Framework 2024-2029. Initiated in June 2023, this project is led by Ts Dr. Nur Azaliah Abu Bakar from Razak Faculty of Technology and Informatics and a team of esteemed cybersecurity experts.

The roadmap aims to provide a comprehensive framework for CyberSecurity Malaysia over the next five years, setting a clear direction for the organization to achieve its vision and mission. It includes an analysis of the current technology landscape, the establishment of strategic themes, a strategic map, and strategic initiatives.

 

Implemented based on business needs, the project encompasses four key domains: Application and Security, Data, Technology, and Policy. It also outlines requirements for various departments within the organization, such as Legal & Secretarial, Corporate Audit, Governance & Integrity, Finance, Admin & Physical Security, Procurement & Logistics, Strategy Management, Human Capital Development, Cyber Security Industry Engagement & Collaboration, Marketing Department, Information Security Management & Assurance, Information Security Certification Body, Strategic Research & Advisory, Knowledge Management, International Engagement, Government Engagement, Outreach & Corporate Communications, Cyber Security Professional Development, Mysef, Myvac, Cryptography Development, Mycert, Digital Forensics & CTI, Secure Technology Services, and the Cyber Action & Intelligence Team.

Key activities included assessing the current business and technology environment, identifying services based on end-to-end solutions and customer needs, determining data involved in the service ecosystem, recognizing internal and external application integration, formulating the strategic direction of digitization, and developing the Cyber Security Technology Roadmap.

This roadmap represents a significant step forward for Cybersecurity Malaysia and the nation’s cybersecurity landscape. It provides a clear and comprehensive plan for the organization’s future, ensuring that it remains at the forefront of cybersecurity technology and continues to provide robust and effective cybersecurity solutions for Malaysia.

Besides Ts Dr. Nur Azaliah Abu Bakar, the project team included Prof. Madya Ts. Dr. Mohd Naz’ri Mahrin, Prof. Madya Ts. Dr. Noor Azurati Ahmad @Salleh, Ts. Dr. Surya Sumarni Hussein, Dr. Noor Hafizah Hassan, Dr. Fiza Abdul Rahim, Ts. Dr. Suriani Mohd Sam, Dr. Abdul Ghafar Jaafar, Dr. Nurazean Maarop, Dr. Ganthan A/L Narayana Samy, Dr. Mohd Syahid Mohd Anuar, Dr. Hazlifah Mohd Rusli, and Dr. Rasimah Che Mohd Yusof.

As we enter 2024, the Cyber Security Technology Roadmap: Cybersecurity Malaysia Framework will serve as a guiding light for the organization, assisting it in navigating the complex and ever-evolving landscape of cybersecurity. With this roadmap, CyberSecurity Malaysia is well-positioned to continue its mission of securing Malaysia’s digital frontier.
