KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 – UTM International Kuala Lumpur recently welcomed a distinguished delegation from Komuniti Tangerang Selatan, Indonesia. This visit reinforced international collaboration in digital transformation, food security, and smart technologies. It represents a significant step in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s (UTM) commitment to fostering cross-border partnerships that promote technological advancement and community development.

The discussions were further enhanced by the participation of My4ACom Sdn. Bhd., led by Chief Executive Officer Ashraf Ghani. This industry partner aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry through digital innovation.

A key highlight of the visit was the official meeting between UTM International Kuala Lumpur and the Deputy Mayor of Tangerang Selatan, a municipality in Banten Province, Indonesia. As one of Indonesia’s fastest-growing urban regions, Tangerang Selatan is actively advancing digital governance and economic empowerment, making it a strategic partner for UTM. The discussions focused on leveraging digital technologies for community-driven growth, including initiatives in education-based agrotourism, digital economy development, and sustainable smart city solutions.

The event featured two insightful knowledge-sharing sessions. Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Nur Azaliah Abu Bakar presented on “Transformasi Digital dalam Komuniti Tangsel,” offering strategic insights into digitalization and economic empowerment. Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Rudzidatul Akmam Dziyauddin led a session titled “IoT dalam Keselamatan Makanan,” highlighting the Internet of Things (IoT) applications in food security and agricultural optimization. These sessions provided valuable expertise on how emerging technologies can enhance community well-being and foster sustainable innovation.

Representatives from Tangerang Selatan, including Ir. Yepi Suherman, M.M., Mohammad Azwar Annas, Tini Indrayanti, Yani Irma Suryani, Tanti Nursari, Praseti Setiodini, Vivi Herliani, and Joni Weldi, actively participated in the discussions and knowledge exchange. Their contributions strengthened the collaboration between UTM International Kuala Lumpur and Tangerang Selatan, promoting deeper engagement in digital transformation, economic empowerment, and community-driven initiatives.

During the discussions, UTM International Kuala Lumpur shared its experiences in developing local communities in Malaysia, highlighting successful initiatives in capacity-building, digital literacy, and grassroots innovation. Case studies from Malaysia illustrated how strategic partnerships among academia, industry, and government have empowered communities through education, technology integration, and entrepreneurial support. These exchanges provided a solid foundation for exploring best practices that could be adapted and implemented in Tangerang Selatan, reinforcing a shared vision of leveraging technology and knowledge-sharing for sustainable socio-economic development.

Since the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in 2024, UTM and My4ACom have collaborated on various research and technology-driven initiatives aimed at enhancing artificial intelligence (AI) integration, digital solutions, and business innovation. This recent visit marked a continuation of these efforts, reaffirming both institutions’ commitment to accelerating technology adoption, research development, and commercialization.

Looking ahead, UTM and My4ACom expect to launch more impactful initiatives to bolster Malaysia’s status as a leading hub for digital excellence. UTM International Kuala Lumpur is dedicated to expanding its expertise and global engagement through this international network. This visit highlights UTM’s goal of becoming a regional leader in digital transformation and fostering strategic international partnerships. With this momentum, UTM is eager to cultivate new collaborations, advance joint research projects, and support community-driven initiatives that will further contribute to regional and global innovation.
