UTM Won National Instruments Autonomous Robot Competition (NI ARC)

NIBONG TEBAL, Dec 14 – Congratulations to Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) for winning the Champion title at the National Instruments Autonomous Robot Competition (NI ARC) for the fourth consecutive year. UTM’s consistent excellence in this competition highlights the dedication and hard work of its teams and mentors. Special recognition goes to Dr. Mohd Saiful Azimi and the Airost team for their outstanding performance in securing the national champion title once again. Their success showcases innovation, teamwork, and technical expertise, further solidifying UTM’s position as a leader in autonomous robotics at the national level.

Dr. Fauzan Khairi Che Harun and the Sigma team successfully reached the quarterfinals and received a consolation prize. Despite not advancing to the finals, their impressive performance showcased their tenacity and determination. The effort of the Sigma team was commendable; they demonstrated their skills and made a significant impact on the competition.

The Airost team, consisting of undergraduate engineering students—Chen Pyng Haw (Data), Chan Si Yuan (Biomedical), Ng Ru Yik (Electronics), and Yap En Thong (Software)—competed alongside the Sigma team, which included Kong Zhen Ting (Electronics), Ooi Jing Ying (Electrical), Gabriel Ding Buo Khang (Electrical), and Tan Wei Li (Biomedical).

We would like to extend our gratitude to the UTM Centre for Student Innovation & Technology Entrepreneurship (UTMXCITE) and the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIRO) for providing the facilities that allowed students to unleash their creativity and innovative thinking while building the robot. Additionally, we thank the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FKE) for sponsoring transportation and accommodation for the students.
