
IJN-UTM Research Convention 2023

IJN-UTM Convention 2023 is a 1-day event that comprised of four sequence professional activities including Research Exhibition, CEO Talk, Memorandum Signing and Steering Committee Meeting that involved the higher management of UTM and IJN.
The collaboration between UTM and IJN has been initiated in 2013 where our Centre, IJN-UTM Cardiovascular Engineering Centre is the bridge between these two big entities for continuous research collaboration in healthcare area, specifically to the area of cardiovascular engineering and science. This 1 decade collaboration has outwarded several tangible research inventions including the development of vascular patch and graft, rehabilitation and telemetry system, micro-insulin auto delivery, vascular stent, heart assist device, medical devices and management of clinical research data. There were 12 research booths participated in the Research Exhibition, within the TRL range of 3 – 7. Nine of the inventions are the on-going research collaboration between UTM staff and IJN clinicians.
The CEO Talk was highlighted by the CEO of IJN, Prof. Datuk Dr. Aizai Azan Abdul Rahim, which is also the Adjunct Professor of UTM. His talk on ‘Heart Matters: Advancing Cardiac Care through Precision Medicine’ exposes the audiences with the current technologies in cardiovascular area and the future technologies that UTM staff should venture for research advancement in cardiovascular and healthcare sections. Followed by Memorandum Signing Ceremony, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) have been signed by Prof. Datuk Dr. Aizai Azan (CEO of IJN) and Prof. Datuk Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahamd Fauzi Ismail, witness by Prof. Dr. Rosli Md. Illias (UTM Deputy vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation)), Prof. Dr. Hasri Samion (Chief Clinical Officer of IJN), Prof. Dato’ Dr. Suhaini Kadiman (Director of Clinical Research IJN). The MoU is held for 5 years between UTM and IJN that encompasses of research activities in cardiovascular engineering and science. While the MoA was signed for the IJN Integrated Research Management System (i-RMS) project with the amount of RM171,990.Â
