DOUBLE TAX DEDUCTION
UTM has been certified as an Approved Research Institute by the Ministry of Finance since 1991, under Section 34B, Income Tax Act 1967. As an Approved Research Institute, UTM eligible to offer Local Business Entities for a Double Tax Deduction (DTD) through:
Section 34B(1)(a) – Cash donation
Section 34B(1)(b) – Cash funding for qualifying R&D in
S&T

ENDOWMENT UNIT SERVICES
Actively engages in planning, managing, and promoting the UTM Endowment Fund initiatives with the aim of acknowledging contributions and ensuring associated benefits to mankind.

Limited to 10% of Income Aggregate of the company or individual

MATCHING GRANT
This grant aims to encourage researchers to collaborate and conduct research collaboratively with the private and local industries, local and international IPTs, and government agencies.
Open to collaborators from private entities, government agencies, and higher institutions. Encourages collaborations at all levels, including national and international.
MATCHING GRANT 1 (MG1)
Allocation distribution involves:
1) Collaborator transfering funds to UTM.
2) Funds from UTM will remain and
managed by the institution.
MATCHING GRANT 2 (MG2)
Allocation distribution involves:
1) Collaborator’s fund managed by the
collaborator.
2) UTM’s fund remain and managed by
UTM
SME INTECH ACCELERATOR FUND
Industries can have matching grants with us as on the Small Medium Enterprise Innovation
Technology Accelerator Fund (SME InTech Accelerator Fund)
Special funding (12 months period of project) for helping to solve industry problems
through innovation technology. The innovation should include improving existing
products/processes to be more competitive in the market.
Up to RM50,000.00 with 5% or 10% matching grants from the company according to
their size of company.

Memorandum of Agreement between UTM & the company
1 new product/project/process
1 new IPR
