MICROBIOLOGY LAB

INTRODUCTION

Microbiology Laboratory offers analytical services for the qualitative and quantitative microbial assessments of wide range of products including fertilizer and soil samples. Whilst providing a broad approach to provide credible inference of microbial-based assessment, our functionality of microbiology laboratory but not least importance is to carry out research activities particularly on plant-microbe interaction, plant growth-promoting properties characterization and microbial biodiversity in the agricultural and environmental ecosystem. We provide the following services to guide the stakeholders and customers into actionable information based on interpretation results.

EQUIPMENT HIGHLIGHT

Autoclave

This instrument operate at high temperature and pressure in order to kill microorganisms and spores. They are used to decontaminate certain biological waste and sterilize media, instruments and lab ware. Chamber volumes is 110L and operating range temperature is from 105°C to 135°C.

Incubator

Enclosed device that provides an optimal condition of temperature, humidity, and other environmental conditions required for the growth of microorganisms. Volume of chamber is 449L and temperature range is from 20°C to 80°C.

INCUBATOR SHAKER

The Innova44 and 44R (refrigerated) provides a controlled environment for samples to grow and develop while also providing mechanical agitation to mimic the natural movement of cells in their environment. Stackable shakers are designed for culturing a wide variety of organisms in flasks up to 5L. The speed range is from 25 to 400 rpm and temperature range is from 20°C below ambient temperature to 80°C.

UV/Vis Spectrophotometer

UV–vis spectrophotometer is used for estimating chromophore formation and cell concentration in liquid culture. The Cary 60 UV-Vis spectrophotometer has a wavelength range of 190–1100 nm that can be scanned in under three seconds and collect data from single or multiple wavelengths at 80 data points per second.

Vertical Laminar Air Flow

The main purpose of a laminar flow cabinet is to form a contaminant-free work environment. For this purpose, it filters and captures all types of impurity particles entering the cabinet.
