UTM ICA (Innovation Center in Agritechnology for Advanced Bioprocessing) is taking another step forward to initiate the strategic collaboration with the main agriculture industry player by organizing the lecture series. This lecture series is aimed to provide the medium to all researchers, academia, farm managers and agriculture based companies in discussing a new research themes ranging from agritechnology, agriculture biotechnology, post harvest technology and product development. This first lecture series was delivered by Mr Tai Seng Yee, Executive Director of Zenxin Agri Organic Food Sdn Bhd. The lecture was held on 11 March 2014 at Auditorium IBD, N23a, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia
Apart from registered participant from UTM student and researchers, this event also was inviting the main agriculture related government bodies from MARDI, MPIB, RISDA, Jabatan Pertanian Negeri Johor and PPNJ.
Prof Dr Mohamad Roji Sarmidi, Director of UTM ICA delivered his foreword speech before the lecture begins. Mr Tai on his lecture mentioned the importance of organic food. He added that awareness of this organic cultivation should be inculcated among the farmers in order protect the community and agro industry as whole from being polluted by the chemical residues. For him, the organic system is very crucial as it combine between tradition, innovation and science and give benefit to this shared environment. He also gave an opportunity in tasting the organic plum to all audience. He also introduced on how his company, Zenxin was successfully operated in conducting the organic food business for the national and international market. All the product from Zenxin Agri Organic Food Sdn Bhd have certified by SOM and NASAA that builds consumer confidence in their product by emphasizing on the maintenance of hygiene, safety and free chemical residues.
This event will build the smart partnership between UTM ICA and Zenxin thus strengthen the bioorganic ecosystem in Malaysia agriculture. UTM ICA will continue its efforts and initiative to continuously organize lecture series for the benefit of UTM researchers as well as public. This lecture series will assist UTM ICA, as the CoE to map its presence in agriculture agenda to help in producing the value added products associated with engineering view for agricultural productivity.
