Interactive Course on Non-Destructive Evaluation for Building Condition Assessment (NDE 2016)

The aim of this event is to introduce latest technology and trend in non-destructive evaluation for building condition assessment to the industries, community and government. This interactive course provides a unique opportunity to learn the state-of-art and practical application of non-destructive evaluation in predictive maintenance and building diagnostic for better total asset management in industries and township.  It also provides a platform to the participants to communicate with the experienced speakers for Q&A section regarding any issue in building condition assessment via WhatsApp Group Chat for one month.

This event is organised by Geoscience & Digital Earth Centre (INSTeG), in collaboration with Centre for Real Estate Studies (CRES), Faculty of Civil Engineering (FKA), Local Government Department (JKT), Public Works Department (JKR), RDG Supply Sdn Bhd and Andes Consultants Pte Ltd. This two-day interactive course is aimed to:

  1. Introduce predictive maintenance using non-destructive evaluation to the industry, community and government.
  2. Introduce building diagnostic using non-destructive evaluation for total asset management.
  3. Highlight the latest trend and technology in non-destructive evaluation for building condition assessment.
  4. Share the experience on previous building condition assessment projects that have led to better total asset management.
  5. Discuss the structural deficiency and the effects to the structural capacity.
  6. Create a platform for interactive communication between participants and experience speaker relating any issue in building maintenance practices.

Geoscience and Digital Earth Centre (INSTeG) Received a Visit from Tokyo Metropolitan University for Summer School Program

28 August 2016 – INSTeG received a visit from Tokyo Metropolitan University Researcher and student for Summer School Program today as part of their annually program. Dr. Mohd Nadzri Md Reba which is INSTeG Director, had initiated the visit to INSTeG for the visitors who are keen to have a look at research works in Geoscience and Digital Earth Centre.

The visitors were brought to tour around UTM Skudai Campus, Taman Negara Tanjung Piai and Forest City. The visitors were interested with the green forest and environmental conservation research carried out by INSTeG Researcher. The visit ended with the visitors signing WCC’s guest book and posed for a photograph with INSTeG staffs.

Congratulation to the winner of 2016 Top Research Scientist Malaysia

A very big congratulation to Prof. Sr. Dr. Mazlan Hashim, who won Top Research Scientist Malaysia 2016, organized by Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM). The ceremony was held at Taming Sari Ballrooom, Hotel Royal Chulan Kuala Lumpur on 15 August 2016. Three Professors from UTM received the 2016 Top Research Scientists Malaysia (TRSM) recognition:

1)      Prof Dr Azman Hassan

2)      Prof Dr Mazlan Hashim

3)      Prof Dr Tharek Abdul Rahman

 

The ‘Top Research Scientists Malaysia’ initiative & database aims to recognise & showcase the accomplishments of Malaysian research scientists as role models of excellence, mentors to the next generation and leaders to forge ahead with the STI agenda of the nation.

Arannayk Foundation Visit Geoscience and Digital Earth Centre (INSTeG)

Geoscience and Digital Earth Centre (INSTeG) has received a visit from the Project Team of Arannayk Foundation. The session was attended by 28 officers from Arannayk Foundation and representatives of INSTeG. The visit was expected to give a clear understanding of Malaysia’s forest Management to the participants and to attend the workshop Malaysia’s Adaptation to Climate Change 2016.
