Institute IPASA has produced a solution to obtain a water quality test results outside the laboratory faster (in situ) by build a cabin moving laboratory. Cabin mobile laboratory, which also known as, IPASA Mobile Lab, was the first in Malaysia which is equipped by mobile devicesand instrument and capable of making a variety of analysis for the study of water in the study site.
The mobile laboratory inventions by IPASA worth of RM500,000
The Director of IPASA, Prof. Dr. Abdull Rahim Mohd. Yusoff said the main goal of this mobile environmental laboratory was developed was to provide water quality monitoring on-site survey to government and private agencies. According to him, due to the rapid development that has become one of the causes of the pollution of rivers and lakes is getting worse, the evaluation of this water should be made without delay so that appropriate action can be taken to address the problem of water pollution. The mobile laboratory is able to provide services to the industry that wants monitor the quality of waste water produced from the plant before being discharged into drainage systems.
The mobile laboratory is equipped with instruments to assess water quality
Among the equipment available in the mobile lab includes UV spectrophotometer for heavy metals, anionic and some other physical properties of water analysis. In addition, the laboratory is also equipped with an optical microscope, water and probe testing tool that can analyze water quality directly. Also included in the mobile laboratory tool for analyzing the microbial total coliform and E.coli. the lab is also installed with BOD trapped. There are also special equipment such as metalyzer that can detect and read the arsenic and mercury value. IPASA Mobile Lab is also equipped with a generators set for the generation of electric power supply of the lab. This laboratory has received approval from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and interior design inspired by IPASA Research Officer, Mohd Faiz Foze. This laboratory was built by METROZEN Engineering Sdn. Bhd. with the cost of RM 200,000. While the lab equipment and intruments worth of RM300,000 financed by UTM Endowment Fund.
