BANDAR BARU BANGI, Oct 23 – The UTM’s Centre of Hydrogen Energy (CHE), Institute of Future Energy (IFE) proudly partnered with TNB Integrated Learning Solutions (TNB ILSAS) to successfully conduct a comprehensive 24-session seminar aimed at raising awareness about hydrogen and carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) technology in 4 months from July until October this year. This initiative marks a significant step towards promoting sustainable energy solutions and aligns with Malaysia’s commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
The seminar, held at TNB ILSAS, saw active participation from 1,200 TNB executives from diverse backgrounds, including mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering, human resources, finance, and information and communication technology (ICT). These participants, hailing from various departments within Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), including TNB Power Generation (TNB Genco) and TNB ILSAS staff, are now equipped to act as ambassadors, disseminating crucial information about hydrogen and CCUS technologies to the broader public.
Expert Speakers
The sessions were led by nine esteemed trainers from CHE IFE, UTM. The team included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anwar Johari, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud El Sayed Nasef, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rafiziana Md Kasmani, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Roshafima Rasit Ali, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Liew Peng Yen, Ir. Ts. Dr. Arif Ab Aziz, Dr. Muhamed Yusuf Shahul Hamid, Ts. Dr. Mohd Fadhzir Ahmad Kamaroddin, and Dr. Nurfatehah Wahyuny Che Jusoh.
Their combined expertise provided in-depth insights into the role of hydrogen and CCUS technologies in the energy transition, particularly within the electricity generation sector. Their knowledge and experience were instrumental in fostering a deeper understanding among the participants.
