CSR CCIN: Empowering the Community with Baking Skills and Digitalization

CSR CCIN identified baking as a skill that could transform lives. Baking, after all, was more than just a culinary art, it was a means of creating something from scratch, an opportunity to build a small business, and a way to bring joy to others. But baking alone wasn’t enough in today’s digital age. To truly make an impact, CSR CCIN incorporated a second component which is the digital marketing through social media. With this dual focus, the Knowledge Transfer Program (KTP) was born.

The program kicked off with a 1 day program at the community center. The area was abuzz with excitement as participants—mostly women from the B40 community with total of 35 participants are gathered to learn.

The first module start with the “Digital marketing through social media”. UTM’s Digital Marketing, Dr. Sabrinah Adam the Deputy Director CCIN conducted an engaging session on the use of social media platform such as Facebook, which is mostly used by the community to market baked goods. In the session, the participants learned how to take appealing photos of their products using simple tools like their smartphones and how to write catchy captions and use hashtags to attract more customers. The hands on session really made them happy and eager to learn.

The second module focused on teaching participants on how to bake cakes, ranging from classic butter cakes to trendy cheese tart with blueberry toppings by the professional bakers which are Puan Marina binti Zainab from CCIN. Puan Marina demonstrated step-by-step techniques, from mixing the perfect batter to achieving a flawless bake. Participants learned the importance of precise measurements and quality ingredients, tips for decorating cakes using simple tools like piping bags and edible decorations. The hands-on session had everyone rolling up their sleeves, laughing at flour spills, and celebrating their first successful bakes.

The Knowledge Transfer Program wasn’t just about teaching skills but it was about fostering independence, building confidence, and creating a ripple effect of empowerment. By combining baking with digital marketing, CSR CCIN equipped the community with tools to thrive in a competitive market.

As the aroma of baked cake and cookies filled the Laman Ceria of Pangsapuri Kenari, it symbolized more than just a culinary success. It was a testament to how knowledge, when shared with compassion and purpose, could transform lives.

CSR CCIN not only gave back to the community but also helped it rise.
