KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 16 — The first Seminar on Construction 2024 (SEMCon 2024) marks a significant milestone in the construction industry’s journey toward sustainability and technological integration. Organised by the UTM Construction Research Centre (UTM-CRC) in collaboration with CIDB IBS Sdn. Bhd., the two-day event drew over 45 participants, including industry professionals, academics, and stakeholders from various sectors.
SEMCon 2024 was held at Sunway Velocity in Kuala Lumpur, SEMCon 2024 from 15th August to 16 August 2024 and focused on the theme, “Building a Sustainable Future: Readiness and Integration of IBS with IR 4.0.” The seminar featured insightful presentations from leading experts, including from CIDB IBS Sdn. Bhd., BIMASIA Sdn. Bhd., Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and IJM IBS Sdn. Bhd., highlighted innovations in manufacturing and IBS that are revolutionising the construction industry.
In addition to the presentations, the event featured booth participation from UTM-CRC, Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), and IJM IBS, offering participants an opportunity to engage directly with cutting-edge technologies and innovations in the construction field. The technical visit on 16th August to the IBS Home and IBS Component Gallery was another highlight, giving attendees hands-on exposure to the latest advancements.
Participants left the seminar with enhanced knowledge and new perspectives on the future of sustainable construction, especially in integrating IBS with Industry 4.0 technologies. With the exchange of ideas and networking opportunities, SEMCon 2024 has undoubtedly paved the way for future collaborations and advancements in the industry.
SEMCon 2024’s success reflects the growing importance of sustainability in construction and the industry’s commitment to embracing innovative solutions to meet future challenges.
