In its continuous commitment to advancing sustainable infrastructures for nation-building, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) proudly announces the appointment of Prof. Ts Dr. Muhammad Zaly Shah Muhammad Hussein from the top-notch Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying as the Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport for Southeast Asia Region.
UTM, a pivotal player in developing sustainable infrastructures, among others in transportation planning and logistics, solidified its dedication with the establishment of the Centre for Innovative Planning and Development (CIPD). Functioning as a hub for research and development in urban and regional planning, CIPD fosters interdisciplinary innovation.
Prof. Ts Dr. Muhammad Zaly Shah, a distinguished figure in transportation planning and Deputy Dean (Research, Development, and Innovation) at UTM’s Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying, as well as a Fellow of CIPD, has assumed the role of Vice President at the prestigious Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) in the Southeast Asia Region.
CILT, a global professional body representing the transport and logistics industries, has over 30,000 members in more than 30 countries. Prof. Zaly Shah’s international leadership extends to his role as President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Malaysia, championing the logistics and transportation sectors in the country.
Academically, Prof. Zaly Shah specialises in transportation planning and logistics, with a keen focus on sustainable transportation, including active mobility, pedestrian/crowd modelling, and GIS-Transportation. His professional affiliations include being a Chartered Fellow at CILT and a registered Professional Technologist with the Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT).
Beyond academia, Prof. Zaly Shah’s decade of board service for the Johor Public Transportation Commission (PAJ) since 2012 serves as an example of his commitment to public service. His multifaceted contributions underscore the depth of expertise and commitment he brings to his new role at the forefront of logistics and transport in Southeast Asia.
