One of the key take-away points raised during the meeting is the need to emulate the current form of University-Industry Collaboration between UTM Ocean Thermal Energy Centre and Infrakomas Group of Companies. The financing of a Research Officer at the Centre, for instance, is being undertaken by the Company, and whose function is largely to dedicate himself in the on-going pre-feasibility study of a commercialised OTEC Project in the South-East Asian Region. Such a financial-institutional arrangement could be extended to a number of projects, and thus, could help not only to increase the capacity of both entities, private corporation and public-university, but also to expedite the urgency of commercialising emerging technologies and results of R&D.
