UTM Hosts “Robotics for All” Workshop for Youths

JOHOR BAHRU, 6 December 2024 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is organizing an engaging robotics workshop under the banner of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, “Robotics for All”. The program targets the children of UTM staff, aged 14 to 16 years, offering them a hands-on opportunity to explore the world of robotics and programming.

The workshop spans three phases, scheduled as follows:

Phase 1: 6–7 December 2024
Phase 2: 13–14 December 2024
Phase 3: 4–5 January 2025
All sessions will be conducted at the Makerspace, S01, Kolej Tuanku Canselor, UTM Johor Bahru, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Participants will delve into the fundamentals of robotics, utilizing the TinkerCode application to learn programming concepts. UTM provides all necessary robotics kits, enabling a fully immersive and practical learning experience. The program is designed to spark curiosity and nurture technological skills among the younger generation, reflecting UTM’s commitment to innovation and knowledge sharing.

With only 36 slots available, registration was highly competitive, and the deadline for applications closed on 28 November 2024. This event is facilitated by skilled UTM faculty members, including Dr. Nurul Ashikin Abdul Kadir and Dr. Salinda Buyamin, ensuring participants receive expert guidance.

The opening session showcased enthusiastic participants and hands-on activities, giving attendees a chance to work with innovative robotic devices. Guided by experts, students engaged in programming and design challenges, fostering teamwork and problem-solving skills.
