JOHOR BAHRU, 10 June 2025 – A new era for artificial intelligence and robotics dawned today as Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) officially launched AIRFEST 2025, a large-scale initiative designed to foster innovation and collaboration in these critical fields. The launching ceremony, held at the Senate Hall, UTM, Johor Bahru, was graced by YB Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, the Deputy Digital Minister of Malaysia, marking a significant endorsement from the government for this forward-thinking endeavor.
Under the theme “Where Minds Meet Momentum,” AIRFEST 2025 aims to synergize intellectual exploration with tangible technological progress. The event was spearheaded by UTM, specifically the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the Department of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation), and the Centre for Artificial Intelligence & Robotics (CAIRO UTM). Strategic partnerships with industry players such as Huibo Robotics and Iskandar Investment Berhad further amplify the initiative’s potential impact.
The launch event served to formally inaugurate AIRFEST 2025 through a ceremony attended by distinguished guests and stakeholders. Following the ceremony, VIPs and guests had the opportunity to visit the Faculty of Electrical Engineering’s lab, a facility supported by funding from Huibo Robotics, showcasing the practical applications of AI and robotics research. This visit underscored the close collaboration between academia and industry, a key component of AIRFEST’s mission. According to UTM, this initiative will solidify UTM’s position as a leader in technological advancement.
AIRFEST 2025, scheduled for 10th and 11th of June 2025, promises to be a catalyst for advancements in AI and robotics, contributing to Malaysia’s growing capabilities in these crucial domains. The festival will be held at Dewan Senat, Bangunan Canseleri Sultan Ibrahim, UTM Johor Bahru, with participants expected from academic institutions, industry, and government, solidifying the collaboration between all.
