KUALA LUMPUR, 12 August 2025 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) made a significant impact at the ASEAN AI Malaysia Summit 2025, held at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) on 12 and 13 August 2025. Researchers from UTM’s Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIRO) showcased cutting-edge AI innovations during the two-day event, highlighting the university’s commitment to advancing artificial intelligence in the region.
The UTM exhibit, co-organized by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) and the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, served as a dynamic platform to demonstrate the practical applications and potential of AI technologies developed within the university. The summit itself was a pivotal moment, uniting policymakers, innovators, and industry leaders to foster collaboration and promote the responsible development of AI across ASEAN. Malaysia’s role in leading the region’s digital transformation, with AI as a key driver for sustainable growth and inclusivity, was a central theme.
Beyond showcasing technological advancements, the UTM team actively engaged in networking sessions with industry players and startups. These interactions provided valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange, potential partnerships, and insights into the evolving needs of the AI landscape. The ASEAN AI Malaysia Summit 2025, recognized as a launchpad for action and shared impact, aligns with Malaysia’s National AI Roadmap 2021-2025, which emphasizes the importance of AI in driving economic growth and societal well-being. UTM’s participation underscores its dedication to supporting this national agenda and contributing to the advancement of AI on both a national and regional scale.
This participation not only allowed UTM to display their contribution to the AI field, but also allowed their researchers to engage with other professionals and possible ventures in the field. UTM hopes to continue participating in events such as these, to further improve and advance their research for the betterment of the country.
