From May 20 to 24, 2025, the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre in Langkawi hosted the prestigious LIMA ’25 event, where UTM’s Fakulti Kejuruteraan Elektrik made a significant impact. Prof Ir Ts Dr Ahmad ‘Athif bin Mohd Faudzi, along with his dedicated team, presented two groundbreaking innovations: the INSPECTo: Duct and Inspection Robot, and the X3CATOR-R robot. The event served as a platform to highlight UTM’s commitment to commercialisation activities and the role of these innovations in addressing industrial needs, particularly in facility maintenance and early reconnaissance. The robots showcased advanced capabilities that could revolutionise the way industries approach maintenance tasks, providing efficient and effective solutions. The presentation attracted considerable attention from industry stakeholders, who expressed interest in the potential applications of these technologies. Prof Ahmad ‘Athif and Dr Nik Ridzuan, who also played a pivotal role in the presentation, engaged with attendees, discussing the technical aspects and benefits of the robots. Their discussions underscored the importance of innovation in engineering and its direct impact on improving operational efficiency in various sectors. The event not only showcased UTM’s research prowess but also reinforced the university’s position as a leader in engineering innovation. The positive feedback received from the audience indicated a strong interest in further collaboration and exploration of these technologies in real-world applications.
