UTM’s KTP Nexus Empowers Youths: Fostering Education and Character Development at Recreational Forest Camp

May 21, 2025 | UTM Nexus News

In a concerted effort to cultivate well-rounded future leaders, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), through the KTP Nexus initiative of the Community & Industry Networking Centre, successfully organised “Kem 1 Program KTP Nexus: Memperkasa Pendidikan dan Sahsiah Remaja” (Camp 1 of the KTP Nexus Programme: Empowering Education and Character of Adolescents). The programme took place from 17 to 18 May 2025, commencing at 8:00 AM, at Hutan Rekreasi UTM. This impactful initiative aimed to strengthen character values, leadership skills, and academic excellence among teenagers, aligning with UTM’s vision to nurture a generation balanced intellectually, emotionally, and socially.

The two-day programme engaged students from five secondary schools in the vicinity of UTM: SMK Taman Universiti, SMK Taman Universiti 2, SMK Mutiara Rini, SMK Taman Desa Skudai, and SMK Skudai. These students participated in a series of interactive and engaging activities including motivational workshops, leadership training, group activities, and self-reflection sessions. The activities were specifically designed to foster teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, all vital for their personal and academic growth.

The KTP Nexus programme is a long-term initiative (2023-2029) by UTM, and it reflects the university’s commitment to extending its resources and expertise to benefit the local community. Such programmes demonstrate UTM’s role in not only providing higher education but also in contributing to the holistic development of young people in the region. Similar community engagement initiatives are increasingly vital in today’s world, as highlighted by various educational bodies emphasizing the importance of character education alongside academic achievements. The focus on recreational environments, like Hutan Rekreasi UTM, also provided a unique and refreshing learning space for the students, fostering a closer connection with nature while simultaneously absorbing crucial life skills.

This event underscores UTM’s dedication to community engagement and its proactive approach to shaping future generations. The KTP Nexus program is an embodiment of UTM’s commitment to fostering a generation that is academically strong and also possesses a strong moral compass and leadership qualities.
