DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

Director’s Message
It is with great honour and a deep sense of responsibility that I step into the role of Director at the Centre for Sustainable Nanomaterials (CSNano). With a background in Chemistry—holding both a Bachelor of Science and a PhD in Chemistry (Materials Science)—my academic and research journey has been deeply rooted in understanding and innovating within the field of nanomaterials. My research focuses primarily on the design of nanostructured materials for applications in catalysis, renewable energy, and the medical sciences.
As part of the Ibnu Sina Institute for Scientific and Industrial Research (ISI-SIR) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), CSNano is driven by a strong mission: to grow into a centre of excellence for advanced research, development, and demonstration in both fundamental and applied materials science—delivering impact on a national and global scale.
Our core research at CSNano revolves around sustainable nanomaterials—emphasizing both sustainable methods for synthesizing nanomaterials and their sustainable applications across various industries. Our multidisciplinary team engages in diverse research areas including heterogeneous catalysis, porous nanomaterials, supramolecular functional materials, nano/molecular photochemistry, biomaterials, green biosynthesis of nanoparticles, semiconductor nanostructures, analytical science, separation chemistry, organometallic chemistry, low-dimensional physics, quantum chemistry, and fuzzy modelling.
Beyond research and development, we are committed to disseminating knowledge in nanotechnology and its applications across sectors such as energy, environment, health, and industry. Through strategic collaborations with academic institutions and industry partners, both locally and internationally, CSNano aims to foster innovation, knowledge transfer, and the growth of sustainable nanomaterials research.
