18 October 2021 – After successfully conducting the 1st Non-Academic Workshop On Management Of Research Institute with Shizuoka University, Japan on October 9, 2018 in Shizuoka University campus; a committee was set up to conduct the continuous program.
The 2nd International Seminar on Management of Research 2019 was held on September 23, 2019 in UTMJB campus. This seminar was initiated by Prof. Hesham Ali El Enshasy, Director of IBD and Prof. Dr. Enoch Y. Park, Director of Research Institute Green Science and Technology (RIGST), Shizuoka University Japan had a presence of more than 100 administrative staff and management students from both Universities. This seminar has attracted paid physical participants from public and private universities in Malaysia namely University of Malaya, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Universiti Teknologi Mara, Raffles University and also Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Indonesia.
Now in its third edition, Shizuoka University Japan is hosting the 3rd International Non-Academic Seminar Exchange 2021 virtually in collaboration with IBD UTM. In the context of a global Covid-19 pandemic, they chose the theme of challenges and steps in dealing with the pandemic from both universities. This event was officiated by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation) UTM, Professor Dr. Rosli bin Md Illias and Vice President of International Strategy Shizuoka University, Professor Makoto Kondo.
Professor Dr. Rosli said, “This seminar fits nicely in meeting United Nations’ Year 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Number 4 ; Quality Education : Ensure Inclusive And Equitable Quality Education And Promote Lifelong Learning Opportunities For All. This is also in line with UTM envision 2025 Strategic Thrust No.2 (ST2) : Creative and Resilient Performance Delivery Through Emphatic And Agile Governance; and Strategic Priorities No.2 (S2) : Provide Continuous Upskilling And Reskilling Of University Staff To Achieve Excellence In Education And Research”. Professor Dr. Makoto Kondo also concurred and hoped that both universities could learn from each other and the seminar will achieve its goals.

Professor Dr. Enoch Y. Park in his concluding speech praised the presenters and found the topics very interesting. He stressed that the role of non-academic is very important to be successful in any University with the nature of our business in research and education. This pandemic will be endemic soon and the topic on how to beat corona would still be the topic to be discussed.
Professor Dr. Hesham Ali El Enshasy thanks all for the excellent organization of the seminar. He encourages the team to work as a big family for the next seminar to include many non-academic groups from both universities; be it Research Management, Financial, International, Facility Management and other departments as well.
