KUALA LUMPUR, 4 June 2025 – The Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIRO), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Kuala Lumpur (UTMKL), successfully organised the AI Kids Camp: Dari Idea ke Skrin! today, providing a dynamic and creative space for children to explore the power of artificial intelligence (AI) during the school holidays.

The half-day program, held from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM, welcomed 40 children aged 7 to 12, all of whom are children of UTM staff. With a mission to deliver engaging and educational experiences outside the classroom, the camp introduced participants to generative AI tools through a series of interactive sessions designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and digital storytelling skills.

The program began with a registration and safety briefing session, followed by an engaging introduction to AI and generative platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Suno.com. After a short break, the children dove into the creative process—developing visual content using Gamma and transforming their stories into videos using Lumen5.

Trainer Pn. Nenny Ruthfalydia introduces the concept of Generative AI to young participants, helping them transform their ideas into digital visuals during the “Dari Idea ke Skrin” workshop session.

The camp was facilitated by four experienced trainers, each introducing a unique generative AI tool that enabled the children to explore various aspects of creativity and technology:

  • Pn. Nenny Ruthfalydia Rosli introduced the participants to ChatGPT and Gemini, two powerful AI language models. These tools were used to help the children generate creative story ideas, characters, and dialogue. The session focused on how AI can assist in brainstorming and expanding imagination through interactive conversations.
  • Pn. Sabariah Mohd Azhari guided the participants through Suno.com, a platform that uses AI to generate music and sound. Children learned how to create background music and soundscapes that complemented their stories or videos, enhancing their multimedia projects with audio elements.
  • Pn. Sahidar Ab Sahir introduced Gamma, an AI-powered presentation and visual storytelling tool. This session enabled the children to transform their written ideas into attractive visual slides and storyboards, providing the foundation for their final video projects.
  • Pn. Nurul Nadzinah Miran Han conducted the final session using Lumen5, a video creation tool that turns text and visuals into animated video content. The children brought their stories to life by combining their written narratives, images, and music into short videos, experiencing the full creative process from concept to screen.

They were supported by dedicated facilitators, Muhammad Thaqif Iman bin Mohd Taufek, Syahmi Harith Hakim bin Hamziri, Zaenal Abidin bin Ali, Muhammad Ikmal bin Abdul Ghani, Fatin Hannani binti Mohd Zaimi and Arsyad Haziq bin Abdul Rahim, ensuring smooth coordination and hands-on assistance throughout the event.

“This program shows how AI can be introduced in a fun and meaningful way, even to young children. It’s about inspiring the next generation of creators and innovators.”

Joy was clearly visible on the children’s faces throughout the program, especially when they saw their own creations displayed on the screen.

By the end of the session, the young participants were able to watch the stories they had conceptualized come to life on screen—an empowering and joyful conclusion to a productive morning.

The initiative reflects UTM’s ongoing commitment to digital literacy, innovation, and community enrichment, even among its youngest stakeholders.
